Leather Crossbody Bag Pattern – Raven PDF, DXF & SVG
Make your own Raven leather crossbody bag with this downloadable leathercraft pattern designed for hand cutting, hand stitching or laser cutting.
The finished bag combines a compact messenger-style shape with a large flap and distinctive layered raven design. The main construction is relatively straightforward, while the smaller raven components add a more detailed leatherworking challenge.
Choose this pattern if you already have some leathercraft experience and want a project with more character than a standard crossbody bag.

Recommended Leather
Two leather thicknesses are recommended.
2.0–2.2 mm / approximately 5 oz:
Approx. 67 × 65 cm / 26.37 × 25.59 in
1.2–1.4 mm / approximately 3 oz:
Approx. 33 × 26 cm / 12.99 × 10.23 in
These quantities are approximate and intended for one complete bag.
The final stiffness and structure of the bag will depend on the leather type and temper you choose.
Hardware Required
You will need:
• 1 × 20 mm buckle
• 1 × 20 mm strap holder
• 3 × rivets
• 1 × heavy-duty rivet for the buckle strap attachment
• 2 × 20 mm D-rings
• Belt strap
• 1 × 10 mm glass eye
Hardware shown in the photographs is for reference only and is not included.
The pattern contains the relevant holes and placement points for installing the hardware.
Tools
Basic leatherworking tools are required, including:
• Cutting knife
• Cutting mat
• Leather punches
• Stitching needles
• Thread
• Mallet or hammer
• Hardware setting tools
• Edge finishing tools if required
A laser cutter is optional.
The complete pattern can be cut by hand, although using the supplied DXF or SVG files with a laser cutter makes the smaller raven pieces faster and easier to produce accurately.
Skill Level
Intermediate.
This is not the pattern I would recommend as a first leathercraft project.
Previous leatherworking experience will help, particularly when cutting, positioning and assembling the smaller components of the raven design.
